Home Photography Policies

The Cleone Peterson Eccles Alumni House makes a beautiful backdrop for photographs and videos. While we try to extend every consideration to individuals and groups wishing to photograph at the Alumni House, these activities cannot interfere with normal operations and event rentals, nor can they compromise the safety of the building. Photographers (anyone capturing or recording an image by film or video) are required to check in at the reception desk upon arrival.

A signed agreement and applicable fees must be paid prior to beginning the session.

 

Commercial Photography


Commercial photography defined as any photography that may be published, sold, promoted, reproduced, or otherwise commercially used. This type of photography must be approved in advance through the University of Utah Scheduling Office at (801) 581-7854. Upon approval of request, photographers may contact the Alumni House to schedule an appointment in order to avoid conflicts with other scheduled events.

Photography inside the Alumni House will be assessed a $100 fee for use of the space for up to two hours during business hours (8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday). The fee for after-hours photography is $200 per hour. If additional time beyond two hours is needed, the client will be assessed the regular rental rates for the spaces needed, which is here.  There is no charge for use of the outdoor spaces. However, to avoid conflicts with other events, the session must be scheduled in advance. Use of unmanned aircraft systems requires prior approval from the University of Utah. University of Utah departments wanting to use the space for promotional/marketing materials should contact the house manager at (801) 581-3710 to discuss availability and pricing.

Professional Photography


Graduation, wedding, engagement, family, or other professional photography is permitted at the Alumni House by scheduled appointment only in order to avoid conflicts with other scheduled events. The following rules and regulations pertain to any photography at the Alumni House:

  • Be courteous and considerate to other Alumni House visitors and employees.
  • Stay out of flowerbeds, plant displays, or mulched areas. Do not step between or on plants.
  • Flowers, foliage, and decor may not be removed or rearranged for any purpose.
  • Accessibility of entrances, exits, doorways, pathways, and staircases must not be blocked.
  • Existing furniture within the Alumni House may not be moved, as well as any tables, chairs, or other equipment set up for private events may not be moved.
  • For indoor photography, restrooms are available for changing. Do not leave your belongings unattended in the restrooms or elsewhere on the property.
  • The Alumni House assumes no liability for loss, theft, or damage to belongings or equipment.
  • Glitter, sequins, feathers, etc., are not allowed at the Alumni House. Please ensure that all wardrobes comply with this policy and that clients/models are fully and appropriately clothed.
  • Flames (candles, sparklers, etc.) are not allowed anywhere on the grounds or in the building.
  • Guests will pay for any damages to the property as a result of the photography session.

 


The Cleone Peterson Eccles Alumni House reserves the right to intervene if a photographer is found violating any of the above policies. If steps are not taken to be in compliance, photographers may be asked to end their session. No refunds will be issued.
